Bicron Electronics Helps Northwest Corner Neighbors

Employees of Bicron Electronics, located at 50 Barlow Street in Canaan, collected over 250 items for the Fishes & Loaves food pantry during the United Way of Northwest CT's Food For Your Neighbors program.  Their collection was a joint effort with the Canaan Child Care Center, which uses the food drive to educate pre-school children about food groups nutrition.

Canaan Children Care!

Students from the Canaan Child Care, a United Way agency, recently collected 76 items for the Fishes & Loaves food pantry, one of six food bank recipients for the United Way of Northwest CT annual Food For Your Neighbors food drive.
Director Fran Chapell and her teaching staff use the program as an educational tool.  In addition to helping those less fortunate in their community, the kids learn math skills by counting items, and they learn about nutrition and food groups.
Thank you, Fran!

United Way Provides Back to School Supplies!

Pat Marciano, United Way Office Manager, and Fran Chapell, Executive Director of Canaan Child Care
The United Way of Northwest Connecticut was able to provide 31 kids with back to school clothing and supplies thanks to generous donations from individuals and businesses who acted as sponsors or contributed financially to the initiative.   This was the first year that the United Way conducted a campaign to help underserved children.  North Canaan was selected due to a higher than average poverty rate in the region.
