Young Professionals Volunteer for Public Service Division

Two ambitious volunteers join Donald Stein, Barkhamsted’s First Selectman, to lead the United Way of Northwest Public Service Division this year. ”

Christina Emery is the Director of Development at LARC, a United Way agency.  She lives in Harwinton with her husband and two children, where she also volunteers as a Secretary of the Harwinton Ambulance Association, is a former Selectman and past president of the local PTA. She’s also a Board member of the Torrington Development Corporation. Her prior United Way experience includes service in the Public Service and Retail Divisions.

Emery said, “I’m fortunate to see the positive impact the United Way has on a daily basis. With support from everyone who contributes, LARC is able to offer Social Enrichment and Recreation programs to our deserving neighbors. As a result, individuals that may otherwise be sitting home are able to attend a movie night, dinner outing, bowling league, or trip to a theater. In addition, the United Way’s support of Camp MOE allows a child with an intellectual disability to be part of a memorable summer experience. I invite you to join me in giving this year.”
Joining her is Tim Waldron, Mayor’s Aide for the City of Torrington, and Christina Emery, Director of Development for LARC, a United Way agency. Tim is a lifelong Torrington resident and 2009 graduate of Central CT State University. He was previously employed by the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and Town of Stratford. He serves as Chairman of the Chamber's Government Relations Committee and is also a member of the Young Professional's Organization. Tim's been a United Way Day of Caring volunteer for several years.
Waldron said, “Being able to be a part of a wonderful organization like United Way is amazing. I see firsthand how many people and families the United Way benefits on a daily basis and I’m honored to be involved in helping my community”

United Way Director Stephanie Barksdale added, “Our volunteers are eager to relay the United Way message to those who work for a municipality or public sector.”
