Community Mental Health Associates, a United Way of Northwest CT member agency, has received a grant from the Foundation for Community Health to integrate behavioral and primary care for children and families in Northwest Connecticut.
Sharon Hospital's Regional Healthcare Associates Pediatrics will refer patients to CMHA psychotherapists, who will provide counseling and collaborate with the pediatricians.
"This is the way that care should be provided," said Ray Gorman, CEO of CMHA. "Studies show that 27% of pediatric patients may have behavioral problems. We hope that this approach will help close the treatment gap."
