When two adults were affected by a house fire on Summer Street in Torrington this summer, The American Red Cross was there to help with emergency housing, food and clothing.
The Red Cross provides comfort kits containing age and gender appropriate personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items to disaster victims. Children's kits also include a stuffed toy. Red Cross assistance is free of charge and is made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers. The Connecticut Chapter is supported by the United Way of Northwest Connecticut. To learn more about the Red Cross visit www.ctredcross.org.
